The HERT courses, together with the HOIT course, are a prerequisite for the certification of the HLO and HDA, under the latest OPITO Training Standards.
HOIT, HERTM and HERTL may now be completed ONLINE.
Once a candidate has completed one of these combined courses, he/she will be certified as either a HLO or a HDA.
For crew members who have valid HERTM certificates that are soon to expire, the 2-day HERTM Refresher course may be completed to be re-certified for 24 months.
The HERTM Refresher course is also available ONLINE.
The aim and objectives of the HERT Training are to equip the HLO and HDA, who will act as an Emergency Team Leader or Emergency Team Member, when required, with the knowledge, understanding and skills to perform the role of the emergency team member in any helideck or helicopter emergency during take-off or landing.
Any person appointed or interested in being appointed to the role of eithe HLO or HDA.
